Typically, when a website falls into a period of inactivity, its creator may place a "New Site Coming Soon!" message while they attempt to re-invent the site. Unfortunately, this attempt is very often in vain, and that "Coming Soon" message is all we see until all trace of the site quietly disappears from sight and mind.

To that end, seeing this page may seem like the end has come for Burning Sky. I can't begrudge anyone to make that assumption; it's a fair one. But for all the words anyone who knows me may use to describe me, "typical" is most certainly not among them.

Burning Sky has been, since its inception, a very simple forum-based gaming website. This has been its downfall. While other websites began to embrace modern concepts for what constituted a successful website, I was still designing by 2005's standards.

Beginning this month, all of that goes away.

I'm doing a lot of behind the scenes work to develop a more modern take on what a videogame community can be. The set of buzzwords I've taken to using in lieu of simply calling Burning Sky a "website" is this:

Burning Sky is a social media experience.

Not too bad, right? I like it. The new website will encompass all that it means to be a social networking website. I'm exploring a lot of options to create a very interactive and user-friendly website. And beyond feeling like you're simply looking at the website, more than ever I want you to feel like you're a true part of this site and community.

So, let's breathe some new life into that old axiom. We have a new website coming soon! It's going to be much better than the old Burning Sky. It's also going to take some time. It's definitely going to be worth the wait and work.

For everyone I've already been getting feedback from, thanks very much. For any passers-by or old members trying to figure out what's going on, here's your explanation. I'll come back with some kind of proper release date when I'm getting closer. For now, let's assume Burning Sky should be back by around Winter-Een-Mas 2012. See you next year!
